Wind Currents Technology (a d.b.a. identity) was formed in 1997 specifically to establish a distribution network for video phone, video conferencing and video surveillance technologies globally, and it is a sub-set of Wind Currents, Inc. a company formed in 1993 and incorporated in 2000. Based in Woodstock, New York, Wind Currents is owned and operated by three partners: John P. Monahan, Michel Washington McLaughlin, and Stephanye Boyd Monahan. McLaughlin operates a small satellite office in Los Angeles.
WCT has undertaken intensive research and market development for the video phone niche industry, through extensive informational and marketing outreach to equipment providers, distributors, value-added resellers (VARs), and professional end users. The company has tested various market methodologies, including pricing strategies, and has participated in several pilot programs, including the Department of Veterans Affairs.
In preparation for its next growth phase, WCT is accelerating development of a network of American and international distributors, value-add resellers (VARs) and independent sales representatives (ISRs) for a range of video phone, video conferencing and video surveillance products. This work is undertaken with the active philosophy of creativity, flexibility and integrity.
Combined, the three partners bring nearly 100 years of experience to their endeavors, encompassing professional practice in the law, marketing communications, and business management. They describe themselves as "plain folk" who have the savvy to know that open-mindedness, practicality and affordability are the key ingredients to business success.
Many people ask about the name: Wind Currents . . .
By observing our feathered friends, one sees that each bird takes full advantage of the wind currents when airborne, thereby minimizing the need for constant flapping or self-generated movement. Surrendering their will, birds are apparently unconcerned with the direction or pattern of the wind: they allow it to lift and carry them. From the human vantage point, the birds in flow with the winds present a seemingly choreographed and beautiful dance as they dip and spiral and glide. We translate this to human terms and imagine that if the courage can be summoned to simply Soar with the Changing Winds, our world becomes dynamic, rich and vibrantly alive with great possibilities and the powers of the Universe, and so they are.
